How to Use GlowNote: RedNote Video Downloader & Insights

GlowNote: RedNote Video Downloader & Insights is a browser companion for public video pages. It can show play, like, and comment counts that are already visible on the page, and it offers a download button only when the page directly exposes an accessible media source. This guide explains every visible control.

Important: GlowNote is an independent browser extension. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by RedNote or Xiaohongshu. Download only content you own or are allowed to save. GlowNote does not bypass DRM, login requirements, signed-session protections, or platform restrictions.

Before You Start

1. Install GlowNote from the Chrome Web Store or load the extension in Chrome or Edge.
2. Open a public page with a visible video.
3. Start or pause the video as usual. GlowNote appears as a compact panel beside the player; select the round GlowNote launcher if the panel is hidden.

Steps 1–3: Read Video Insights, Download Available Media, and Change Language

The numbered markers in the image below correspond to these controls.

1. Read visible insights. The Video insights section shows views, likes, and comments only when those values are available on the page. If a value cannot be read, GlowNote leaves it out instead of estimating it.
2. Download when direct media is available. Look for the green status message Direct media available. Select Download MP4 to begin a browser download. Before downloading, GlowNote rechecks the current page-exposed media source so it does not intentionally use an old player source.
3. Change the panel language. Open the language menu at the bottom of the panel and select your preferred interface language. GlowNote includes 29 mainstream language options, including English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, and more.

When the Download Button Is Unavailable

If the panel says No directly available media on this page, the current page has not exposed a direct HTTP(S) media file that GlowNote can use. This can happen when a player uses an opaque blob: or MediaSource stream, or when the platform does not provide a direct source. In that situation, GlowNote intentionally does not offer a workaround.

Steps 4–5: Contact Through WhatsApp or WeChat

4. Open WhatsApp. Select the WhatsApp button to open the contact link in a new tab or the WhatsApp app, depending on your device setup.
5. Open the WeChat QR card. Select WeChat to expand the in-extension QR card. Use WeChat's scanner to scan the code and add the contact. The QR image is packaged with the extension rather than loaded from an external image service.

Steps 6–8: Configure GlowNote Settings

Open the extension options page from the browser toolbar menu to manage preferences that apply across supported video pages.

6. Set your interface language. Choose the language you want GlowNote to display. Your preference is saved locally in your browser.
7. Control visible engagement data. Turn Show visible engagement data on to display page-provided play, like, and comment values. Turn it off if you prefer a simpler panel.
8. Review product information. Use the About GlowNote link to visit CX Growth Lab and review product information and the current privacy policy.
