Gemini Media Download Helper Privacy Policy: Local Processing & Downloads

This Privacy Policy explains how Gemini Media Download Helper (the “Extension”) handles information when you use the browser extension.

1. Overview

Gemini Media Download Helper helps users save supported image and video files that are already available in their Gemini conversations. The Extension is designed to work locally in your browser and to minimize data collection.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your personal information with a developer server.

• We do not upload your images, videos, prompts, or conversation content.
• We do not collect cookies, account credentials, access tokens, payment information, or browsing history.
• We do not create user accounts, cloud profiles, remote media libraries, or advertising profiles.
• We do not use your media or conversation content to train models or provide services to third parties.

3. Local Processing

Media detection, filename generation, file-format choices, download settings, and local download history are processed in your browser. When you start a download, the browser retrieves a resource that is already available on the current Gemini page and saves it using the browser download manager.

Optional image conversion to PNG is performed locally in the browser. The source image is not uploaded for conversion.

4. Local Storage

The Extension stores only the settings needed for its features, such as your interface language, download subfolder, filename template, and download preferences. It may also store a local record of download status and basic file details so that you can view download history.

Local history is stored on your device and can be cleared from the Extension settings. Clearing the history removes local records only; it does not delete files already saved to your Downloads folder.

5. Permissions

The Extension requests only the browser permissions required to provide its stated functionality:

• Downloads: to create downloads that you explicitly initiate.
• Storage: to save local settings and local download history.
• Notifications: to show optional download completion notifications.
• Gemini page access: to detect supported media already displayed on Gemini pages and show download controls.

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension operates on Gemini pages and may access media resources already served by Google in order to complete a download you request. Your use of Gemini is governed by Google’s applicable terms and privacy policies. This Extension does not control those services.

7. What the Extension Does Not Do

The Extension does not use private APIs or bypass sign-in, regional availability, quotas, payment requirements, or access controls. It does not remove, alter, bypass, or modify SynthID, metadata, visible watermarks embedded in source files, or other provenance information.

8. Data Security

Because the Extension is designed for local processing, it does not maintain a developer-operated database containing your media, conversations, or credentials. You remain responsible for securing your browser profile and downloaded files.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Extension changes or when legal and operational requirements change. The latest version will be posted in this article with an updated effective date.
